It is not a secret that hosting the Olympic games is honour and prize for each country , which have the chance to host the Olympic games. The XXX Olympiad in 2012 will take place in London, UK
This would be the third time London is hosting the which is a kind of record, because this is the first time a city hosts the game for the third time.
London hosted the Olympic Games in 1908 and in 1948.

How London was chosen

On 6 July, 2005 in Singapore, London was announced to win the Olympic bid and to be the host of the Olympic games in 2012.
After this announcement more than 30 000 people gathered at Trfalgar Square to celebrate the great news.
On July 6 2005 at 12:46pm UK time, Jacques Rogge stood in front of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) General Assembly in Singapore and announced: 'the Games of the XXXth Olympiad in 2012 are awarded to the city of..........London.'
London`s bid to host the Games in 2012 was headed by Sebastian Coe, who is a very famous British athlete and A Conservative Party Politician.

London Olympics 2012 committee and organizations
The chairperson of London Olympic Committee is Lord Coe. this committee consists of 3 core organizations, which coordinate this event:
  • London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOcOG)- overseeing the planning and development of the games
  • The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) - responsible for all the venues and necessary infrastructure to be constructed before the Games.
  • The Government Olympic executive- UK Government body, which coordinates the Olympic Games, based in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport
LONDON OLYMPICS 2012 PREPARATIONS

    * Transport for the Olympics Good and easy to access and use public transport is of extreme importance for a host of the Olympic games, that is why UK is working hard to improve its public transport infrastructure. the estimations say that by 2012, there are ten public lines to Stratford, East London, which would be fast and regular.
    * Olympic Venues
The main venues for the Olympic games will be constructed around Stratford, London. they will be in the Olympic Park, which is to be built next to London`s new International Railway Station.

Constructing the Olympic values and ensuring the right infrastructures are in place for the Olympic Games in 2012 is extremely important. 34 venues are planned. They will be a mixture of old, new, historic and temporary buildings and complexes, such as:
